Security engines, services, and analysis
- ClamAV: Scans downloaded e-mail attachments for viruses, trojans, ransomware, and other known malware using automatically maintained signature databases.
- YARA: Applies Calixy malware and suspicious-file rules to attachments. Calixy can check for validated YARA engine and rule updates from the Home ribbon.
- Microsoft AMSI: Passes attachments through the Windows Antimalware Scan Interface so the active Windows security provider can detect malicious content.
- Apache SpamAssassin: Scores message headers and content for spam, phishing, scams, and other unwanted-mail patterns, with automatic rule-update checks and learning support.
- OpenPhish: Provides a current community phishing URL feed used to identify links associated with phishing campaigns.
- PhishStats: Adds scored phishing reports that help identify suspicious and known malicious URLs in message bodies.
- URLhaus: Supplies known malware-distribution URLs so Calixy can warn about links associated with malicious payloads.
- Calixy attachment inspection: Detects dangerous extensions, misleading double extensions, right-to-left filename tricks, mismatched file signatures, executable content, scripts, shortcuts, disk images, and oversized attachments.
- Archive protection: Checks ZIP contents, nested archives, excessive expansion ratios, entry counts, encrypted content, and other archive-bomb or recursive-extraction risks.
- Document inspection: Blocks risky legacy Office compound files and PDF content containing JavaScript, launch actions, embedded files, or automatic actions.
- Message and link analysis: Examines authentication results, sender and reply-to inconsistencies, hidden or mismatched links, unsafe URL schemes, shortened links, urgent credential requests, and suspicious HTML content.
- Ollama analysis, when enabled: Provides an additional local or configured AI classifier for spam, phishing, scams, credential theft, and suspicious language. It complements rather than replaces antivirus scanning.
